My partner and I are visiting Rhode Island for the first time in Mid-July.
I have been doing research on-line and have found some wonderful things to do and see, but I want to know where the must see and do's are at. We want to relocate to the area within the next year.

We are staying in Warwick, but are willing to travel the entire state...got to love the convience of a small state!

I am looking forward to hearing from all of you!

Thank you,

I'm moving to the North East and I keep hearing great things about Providence.

So, I want the skinny. What do you love? What do you hate? Which are the cool, affordable neighborhoods? Where should I avoid? What is the winter really like? Is there a decent public transport system? Can you fly anywhere from the local airport? (I'm a musician and I travel a lot). Are people generally friendly? So many questions ...

Any advice / opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

When I was a kid, Thayer Street was the coolest place to hang and my teen years revolved around the record stores and sandwich shops, the bookstores and the Avon. I didn't live there like some folks did. I didn't hang out on the street for hours and hours, but I loved that other people did.

Does anyone remember Jake's Ice Cream Parlor? We used to play Donkey Kong and Pacman there back in the day. It was a really cool old-fashioned place. A bit of a dump. Now the ultra slick Paragon is in that space. It couldn't be a more different crowd.
